I hold my father fully responsible for the love and respect that I have for the water. Aged ten, a tatty Cornish-built 27ft sail boat arrived on a trailer towed by a Land Rover.
Aged 13 I was sailing myself around the sheltered harbour of Falmouth in Cornwall and aged 18 gained my 200gt Captains Licence.
Having spent teenage years racing and delivering sail boats around Europe I went to college before swiftly embarking on a decade working on super yachts.
I climbed the ranks from decky to First Officer and Captain, completed multiple transatlantic crossings and also transited the Panama canal. Initially learning but eventually teaching crews how to maintain and operate boats to the highest standards possible.
In Wilmington my dreams of working in the Marine Industry, having my own business and most importantly a family have come true.
I started Tuna’s Marine Services in 2018 to help the residents of Wilmington and the surrounding area with all aspects of boat ownership.
CJ started fishing and boating with family and friends out of NJ and FL at a very young age. He quickly developed a passion and natural ability for being on the water.
Every trip learning basic skills to more advanced techniques pertaining to boat handling, navigation, maintenance and fishing.
During his teens and college years, CJ worked on a local Beach Haven NJ Charter Boat. Getting a feel for what is involved with being a mate in the carter business on a very busy boat.
He also began a 10 year relationship with a family, private and tournament fishing on their boats spending summers in the northeast and winters in FL and Bahamas. Accountable for all aspects of maintenance and fishing on their boats ranging from 35’-82’.
He attained his OUPV Six Pack aged 18 and currently maintains a 100 Ton Masters License. CJ resides in Wilmington NC.
He enjoys working with people in any aspect of boating/fishing and helping them get the most of out of their time on the water.
